InQuisitive Learning

Ali and Kean first reached out to the Youth Creativity Fund in April 2023 to start a free peer-to-peer tutoring service for students in Waterloo Region.

While working as a tutor for Kumon, Ali noticed a sudden drop-off of students attending tutoring and discovered that it was due to funding ending that allowed their services to be offered for free. Ali and Kean decided to start their own tutoring service which would be volunteer run in order to keep it free and accessible. In a recent interview, they shared that they believe that education is too important and everyone should have access to the support they need, no matter their family income.

They used their first grant to build their website https://inquisitive-learning.com/ and purchase a Zoom membership for their volunteers to use. All volunteers go through an interview and are given volunteer hours for the time they put in. Their hope is that they can build up a passionate team of volunteers who will carry it on when the two of them graduate in 2025. Ali and Kean have recently re-applied in order to boost awareness for their service and are trying to keep up with demand. If you know a high school student looking for volunteer hours with a gifting or passion for helping others, please encourage them to apply through their website!
